Since this is my first post I would like to share a little information about myself and why I have chosen to write. I recently graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, in Milwaukee Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on thermal sciences (energy). I am an environmentalist; I believe strongly that we should take care of our habitat and reduce our impact on it. I am a unique environmentalist since I don't believe in Toyota Prius or many other 'green' things; since they don't resolve the actual solution and it could be argued that they make the situation worse. The real solution lies in increasing efficiency as well as the lifespan of consumer goods and limiting consumerism. The efficient use of our resources is why I became an engineer; if we are smart we can live comfortably without destroying the earth. Additionally, this methodology is useful to everyone since it will save money.
I would like to encourage people to make better environmental choices and take action, which is why I have decided to write this. Therefore, I will be discussing how we choose to spend our energy and resources. I also plan to discuss 'Green' products. I invite your comments and will do my best to respond back in a timely manner.
